Please find attached the Programme for the weekend together with a list of those who have indicated that they will attend the reunion. An updated contact list is also attached. I am looking forward to meeting up with everybody again. It could be fun if we wear something from our school days and maybe bring some pictures or memorabilia with for the dinner on Friday night...Royden

2nd Mar 2003: Hey hey - great news from Ceddy - who has decided that he wants to be with his old buddies - we'll arrive Friday afternoon. Gladwin says his blazer still fits - so remember, class of 64 - if possible please try to wear something from your school days. Even if its a scrumcap or jackstrop. AND there's a new face in the "after" pictures - a distinguished gentleman these days.

26th Feb 2004: Righto - another GUESS WHO picture. Click on the pic - who are these two fellas (bestman and groom) who matriculated in '66 and '64 respectively at the guy on the right's marriage in 2000.

26th Feb 2004: Thanks to Peter Martin in Oz for the Standard 10A picture - on the right.

22nd Feb 2004: OK, Dr. Jan Du Plessis returned my phone call this morning. He's in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Thanks to Denton for supplying yet another telephone number. Read more in the EMAILS 2004 link on the right hand side of this page.

19th Feb 2004: We've just phoned the Protea Hotel in High Street. (Old Graham hotel ?) - they have quite a few rooms available and their rate is R 460 for a couple with a 10 percent discount if you're attending the reunion. Denton advises that the Highlander charges R 180 per person. Anybody else with more knowledge or suggestions on accommodation ? I know Gladwin and Meneer Hobbs will be staying at the Cock House thusfar.

19th Feb 2004:
Don Munday will be there - see emails on the right. Thanks Don, wonderful hearing from you - we have forwarded your email to everybody on our email list.

18th Feb 2004:Gotcha !
MESSAGE NO 1 - from Martin

Hey man remember "Whirlpool of Love" by June Dyer ?
Guess who I spoke to this evening? DYER, James H - yep Jimmy himself. Father of six and GRANDfather of eight ! Anne (Jimmy's wife) answered then gave Jimmy the phone when he stopped driving. And... lanelink@law.co.za is the email which one will find Anne on - she'll then hand any email on to our man Jimmy. Note that their email has been added onto the CONTACT LIST on the web pages. Anne has printed all the internet stuff for Jimmy to read tonight. Jimmy is all keen for the reunion. He will also try to find our elusive fullback Alan B Baxter and will also re-contact Douggie Brown to try and persuade him to come down. Anne, thanks for your help - its all for a noble cause and you got a good man there.

MESSAGE NO 2 - from Royden
Martin, What about doing it at the Reunion Dinner on the Friday evening as everyone will be there who is coming?
Royden
Ja OK Roy, had a chat to Denton "James Bond" Francis earlier - we'll take photos on Friday night AS WELL AS daytime shots on Saturday (better light).
<starts searching for his 2.5 glasses>

MESSAGE NO 3 - from Ron Beard
Martin, Many thanks for all your e-mails/news etc. I shall attend the reunion from the Friday so I look forward to seeing everybody. My address details are as follows :-
(see the contact list on right hand side) If you are ever in E.L. please look me up. Regards
Ron
Thanks Ron, we'll continue the mathematics competition at some other stage, - will be great seeing you again - and its reciprocal, huh.
Now WHERE is Alan Baxter - did he "Vlug in die Namib" ?

18th Feb 2004: Great news - an email from Des Cooney. Now who doesn't remember this powerful front-ranker pushing the opposition back whilst at the same time keeping a caring eye out for his buddy and star player little scrumhalf Dabbie (Dave) Alcock. A gentleman and scholar of the old school couldn't be more appropriate in this case. Des, we need a photo of you please ! If we can't see you in person then please help us with a photo for the website. Thanks - we'll buy you a choc mint special at Uncle Herbie's on Saturday morning.

17th Feb 2004: Click here for NEWSLETTER 2004 from Fraser Mantell - which contains a full program for the weekend's events. Looks like the Saturday lunchtime braai could be a good time for taking photos.

13th Feb 2004: Schedule and final planning from Royden Vice

13th Feb 2004: Sad news from Ceddie who advises (see emails on right) who advises that Bumpy Nell passed away from cancer last December. Also, Grant House hostel friend of mine from PE, Glen Lambert passed away a few years ago.

13th Feb 2004: My son Junior (19) is racing the East London track this Saturday so we're leaving early Friday morning...probably back sometime Sunday - so there'll be no updates during that period of time. You can read a bit about us here:
PE Computer Company scoops motor racing trophies.doc

12th Feb 2004: Two emails today - Ceccie and Ron Beard. Hmmm what about a bit of a memory test. Who remembers "blankets" Matthews ? And does anyone remember "Slippery Jim" ? And who turned 21 in Matric ? Whose nickname, albeit not at Graeme, was "Kitty" ?

11th Feb 2004:
Some nicknames from Peter down in Oz - check the EMAILS section on the right. Now we have Bree, Boer, Glad aka Mort, Beans, Pussy, Ceccie, Ogies, Dup, Pops, Ikey,  Little Mule, Sid, Shrimp (deceased) and Eggie (deceased).

10th Feb 2004: Mort - Gladwin Morton has traced Ernie Hobbs in Cape Town, is going to print these pages and go and deliver them to him. Well done Glad - amazing that a teacher can still have such a measure of respect after so many years. Also got an email from Peter Martin (Muddle) way down in OZ. Sure hope you can make it Pete.

9th Feb 2004: Phone call received from Neilen, always a dedicated man, Neilen is preferring this reunion above entering the Argus. Sikabani amadoda, thanks for the call, well done Neilen. We've added names to the Matric photo on the right (click on it to see). If there are any mistakes, please email us. Also got hold of Douggie Brown on the phone - he'll try to make it. Then, just spoke to Roy (Boer) van Rensburg on the phone - the dashing right wing still sounds like he did in 1964. He thinks he has a furniture show in Jo'burg on 13th March but will see what he can do.

Guess who...click the picture to make it bigger
Hint: The collar in right pic might give it away...

6th Feb 2004: Email from Ceddy Miller received. Malcolm (Sid) Howell is back in the country but can't make the reunion. Faded memory starts working...who was "Beans" ? Was that Neil Robey's nickname ? Neilen's very quiet, must be those hard benches ? Some guys emails appear to go thru, but no reply from them...hey - what about Pops Benyon ? I see him on the matric photo. OK, I've phoned him - and he'll be there.

These are the 'boys' that have been contacted thusfar.

5th Feb 2004: Thanks to Denton Francis who popped around to see me today with two photos on the Matric Classes. Denton is now retired, still cheeky as always, and extremely helpful. Also, Brian Smith called - hey Brian hope to see you in the city of Saints in March. And thanks Neil Robey for confirming your email address - see you in G'town in March. We also found Doug Pashley who now lives at Sundays River. And Stephen Du Toit who lives (also retired) at Seaview just outside PE.

Dear Martin,                                 RE: CLASS OF ‘64
Denis Chapman and I are trying to organise a class reunion next year for the Class of ‘64. We will have left Graeme 40 years ago! We thought that we would get as many of us in Grahamstown during the Graeme Founders Day weekend of 12th, 13th and 14th March 2004. What we are desperate for is addresses (in particular e-mail addresses) and telephone numbers. I have attached the list given to me by the school, but with very little additional information. If you are in contact with any of the classmates on the list, can you either ask them to contact me or my PA, Louise Hattingh, on +27 11 685 1266 or e-mail me at
rtv@wacoint.co.za  or send their details on to me?
Let’s see if we can put it together!
Look forward to hearing from you and renewing contact with you in March 2004.
Regards,
Royden Vice
