HOT UPDATE -
LATEST INFO - 4th March 2004 - Fetch it here 2nd Mar 2003: Hey hey - great news from Ceddy - who has decided that he wants to be with his old buddies - we'll arrive Friday afternoon. Gladwin says his blazer still fits - so remember, class of 64 - if possible please try to wear something from your school days. Even if its a scrumcap or jackstrop. AND there's a new face in the "after" pictures - a distinguished gentleman these days.
26th Feb 2004: Righto - another GUESS WHO picture.
26th Feb 2004: Thanks to Peter Martin in Oz for the Standard 10A picture - on the right. 22nd Feb 2004: OK, Dr. Jan Du Plessis returned my phone call this morning. He's in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Thanks to Denton for supplying yet another telephone number. Read more in the EMAILS 2004 link on the right hand side of this page.
19th Feb 2004: We've just phoned the Protea Hotel in High Street.
(Old Graham hotel ?) - they have quite a few rooms available and their
rate is R 460 for a couple with a 10 percent discount if you're attending
the reunion. Denton advises that the Highlander charges R 180 per
person. Anybody else with more knowledge or suggestions on
accommodation ? I know Gladwin and Meneer Hobbs will be staying at
the Cock House thusfar.
18th Feb 2004:Gotcha ! 17th Feb 2004: Click here for NEWSLETTER 2004 from Fraser Mantell - which contains a full program for the weekend's events. Looks like the Saturday lunchtime braai could be a good time for taking photos. 13th Feb 2004: Schedule and final planning from Royden Vice 13th Feb 2004: Sad news from Ceddie who advises (see emails on right) who advises that Bumpy Nell passed away from cancer last December. Also, Grant House hostel friend of mine from PE, Glen Lambert passed away a few years ago.
13th Feb 2004: My son Junior (19) is racing
the East London track this Saturday so we're leaving early Friday
morning...probably back sometime Sunday - so there'll be no updates during
that period of time. You can read a bit about us here:
12th Feb 2004: Two emails today - Ceccie and Ron Beard. Hmmm
what about a bit of a memory test. Who remembers "blankets"
Matthews ? And does anyone remember "Slippery Jim" ? And who turned 21 in
Matric ? Whose nickname, albeit not at Graeme, was "Kitty" ? 10th Feb 2004: Mort - Gladwin Morton has traced Ernie Hobbs in Cape Town, is going to print these pages and go and deliver them to him. Well done Glad - amazing that a teacher can still have such a measure of respect after so many years. Also got an email from Peter Martin (Muddle) way down in OZ. Sure hope you can make it Pete. 9th Feb 2004: Phone call received from Neilen, always a dedicated man, Neilen is preferring this reunion above entering the Argus. Sikabani amadoda, thanks for the call, well done Neilen. We've added names to the Matric photo on the right (click on it to see). If there are any mistakes, please email us. Also got hold of Douggie Brown on the phone - he'll try to make it. Then, just spoke to Roy (Boer) van Rensburg on the phone - the dashing right wing still sounds like he did in 1964. He thinks he has a furniture show in Jo'burg on 13th March but will see what he can do. Click here for Royden's Updated letter dated 27 January 2004
6th Feb 2004: Email from Ceddy Miller received. Malcolm (Sid) Howell is back in the country but can't make the reunion. Faded memory starts working...who was "Beans" ? Was that Neil Robey's nickname ? Neilen's very quiet, must be those hard benches ? Some guys emails appear to go thru, but no reply from them...hey - what about Pops Benyon ? I see him on the matric photo. OK, I've phoned him - and he'll be there.
5th Feb 2004: Thanks to Denton Francis who popped around to see me today with two photos on the Matric Classes. Denton is now retired, still cheeky as always, and extremely helpful. Also, Brian Smith called - hey Brian hope to see you in the city of Saints in March. And thanks Neil Robey for confirming your email address - see you in G'town in March. We also found Doug Pashley who now lives at Sundays River. And Stephen Du Toit who lives (also retired) at Seaview just outside PE.
