Hello Martin,
Your details, as well as those of Rosemary Fox, were given to me by Barbara (Fox) Meyer. Barbara and I have almost daily contact as I house my herbal medicine in the pharmacy where she is employed in Benoni.

Whilst my tenure at Graeme was but a short one, 1958 to 1960, (thereafter went on to matriculate at Tech High in PE) my memories of the school, my fellow scholars, teachers the hostels etc remain very close to me and are part of my fondest memories. My schooling at Graeme was Std 6 and Std 7 (twice.) I found out in my adult life that the second year in Std 7 was a neatly arranged plot by my late mother and MC to teach me the value of an academic upbringing. Rosemary forwarded Barbara copies of her download from your website which I skipped through yesterday and last evening, as well as visiting your WebPages myself.

Whilst your name does not ring a bell with me (and maybe mine not with you) there are many names mentioned in your pages that are on my tongue. Bokkie Venter, Jan du Plessis, (I play piano duets with his brother Sarel) Grant Britten, (we both lived in Lloyd Rd Walmer) the late Lorrie Wilmot (I was his "new pot" at Grant House) Prof de Beer, the Heywood brothers (all boarders with me) Sam Cawood, Fraser Mantell (he and I go back to the age of 18 and 12 month respectively, was bestman at his wedding) Des Cooney, Gavin Purdon (who delivered the perfect bouncer straight into my mouth at the nets at the "little" field.) the late Peter Tudge and Peter Botha (alarming to hear of these deaths.) Eddie Symes (I believe we shared the same birth date or a day apart maybe.) Mickey Baxter etc, I could go on and on.

People that I knew and that are not mentioned, Graham Gringley, Tony Gush, Tony Slogrove, Ricky Purdon, Cecil Wicks, Brian "Ox" van Wijk (Prof de Beer deposited soap shavings into his snoring mouth at Junior Hostel in order for all to have a peaceful nights sleep) Mouse du Randt?

I was also glad to see Don Munday's name on your contact list. I will send him an email, not only did he try and teach me Science but he was also my Sunday school teacher at the Baptist church. I hope that you do not feel that I am intruding as a "non qualifier" seeing as I did not walk the full path, and most of all get popped in the eye like David Elms, cos I'm not "one of the locals." To refresh the memory I have included before and after damage photo's.

Kind regards
Rowland Hickling
